Your orthodontist might give you a couple options, so you should be well informed about them before you decide. For those looking to be more discreet, you can choose between Invisalign and ceramic braces . Each of these has pros and cons to consider. Pros of Invisalign Invisalign is a revolutionary development that makes the entire process of straightening your teeth very simple. Invisalign offers people a way to straighten their teeth discreetly, which for many, is a very desirable procedure. Another benefit of this treatment is the foods you're allowed to eat are not limited whatsoever. Rather than avoiding certain foods, just remove your aligners when you eat or drink and brush your teeth thoroughly afterwards. Then put your aligners back in. Invisalign generally has a quicker treatment time and tends to be more comfortable than traditional braces. Invisalign also offers treatment plans like Invisalign Lite and Express , which are perfect for fixing mild to moderate alignment issues. With these, you won't have to get a full set of braces just to make slight adjustments. Cons of Invisalign Although Invisalign is absolutely fantastic, there are a few things to consider. The trays should be worn for about 22 hours each day, and since they can be removed, you can easily be tempted to take them out and not wear them as much as you should. This can diminish the effectiveness of your treatment or extend the length of your treatment if you're not careful. Also, having to take the trays out and find a safe, clean place for them each time you eat or drink can be a bit of a hassle. Also, after wearing braces for a long period of time, some tooth discoloration is possible and the foods you're permitted to eat while you have braces are a bit limited .
